Meet Sponsor WWNRockport

Your Rockport Earth Day & Redfish Run planning committee would like to take a moment to thank a very special sponsor, WWNRockport, who has given us immeasurable support since the inception of this event in 2013.  Alicia, eco-conscious webWoman for WWNRockport.com, has guided us through technical tasks, advised about advertising, and through her own business (The Branding Arsenal) designed and hosted the registration page of this website.  We are deeply indebted to Alicia, The Branding Arsenal, and WWNRockport, the hub of all-things-RockportFulton.  Thank you for promoting LOCAL people, businesses and events!

"WWNRockport.com is a PROUD SPONSOR of Rockport Earth Day and Red Fish Run 2014! We are passionate about community and supporting local folks and businesses that make Rockport-Fulton such a wonderful place to call home. Since its inception in 2005, the WWN has been driven by the voice of the community--by people who fervently strive to protect our precious wildlife and environment. By providing an informative, paperless and free community newsletter for the Rockport-Fulton area, the WWN has been able to connect & support local eco-conscious efforts for nearly a decade. Please come out and show your support for Rockport Earth Day April 19th!"

Meet The Humane Society of Rockport/Fulton and Hamlet the Micro Pig

The Humane Society of Rockport/Fulton is a non-profit no-kill animal shelter and adoption center.  In keeping with Earth Day, one of the Humane Society's main services is to recycle homeless dogs and cats, offering them for adoption and finding new homes and families for them.

Our Earth Day Booth will be staffed by several VIP (Very Important Pet) Cats, who will be assisted by human shelter volunteers Gayly Opem and Lee Rolette.  Our VIP Cats will meet and greet all visitors to the booth. They will interview passersby, offering themselves for gentle rubs and soft pets for all who would like to be their friends. For those who can stop and sit for a few minutes, our Head Ambassador Cat Bob will sit on laps and offer a special purr of thanks.

All of our VIP Cats will be available for adoption, and they will be happy to show you The Cat-A-Log Album of 50 of their other adoptable cat friends who will be celebrating Earth Day back at the shelter.  In addition, our human volunteers will be happy to explain other services available from the Humane Society such as low cost spay and neutering vouchers with local veterinarians, and advice for pet owners who have behavior problems with their own pets.

Hamlet the Micro Pig and her human, who are not affiliated directly with the Humane Society but are supporters-in-kind, will be collecting donations for the Humane Society.  Pose for a photo with Hamlet for a $1 donation!  Her human tells us she will be dressed in pink and green in honor of Earth Day.  :)

Meet More Vendors!

Fulton Mansion will be doing some paper crafts (with chicks and bunnies for the spring) and talking about how Fulton Mansion is one of Rockport's most special green spaces...their garden as well.

South Texas Children in Nature will be bringing a seed planting activity that promotes their website www.naturerockssouthtexas.org, as well as information on South Texas Children in Nature and the Million Mile Month.

Mission-Aransas Reserve and the University of Texas Marine Science Institute will have an interactive display on the dangers, sources and solutions of marine debris.

Aransas County Community Garden will show a timeline of developing seeds planted on April 1st and documented daily.  Participants will be able to plant a bean and take it home, too!  They will also have flyers about their organization.

Oaks at Bentwater will be handing out "re-usable" grocery totes.

Unity Church of Rockport will demonstrate the importance of caring for our water supply.

Recycling Organics International, Inc. dba Organics Recycling Group provides education about composting/organic gardening and household food waste recycling.  For Rockport Earth Day, they will have garden vegetable plants and compost-based products for sale.  Look for them next to the Fulton Community Garden booth.

NativeDave.com will have local native plants for sale.

Meet the rest of our vendors this Saturday, April 19th, 10a to 2p, in the parking lot next to Coastal Bend Health Foods, 111 N. Austin Street in Rockport.
